How Does Our Therapy Help Children and Young People?
We use a combination of safe and effective therapies with children and teenagers that help them learn how to control their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Our practitioners are specialists in working with children using a form of therapy called NLP. This stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. "Neuro" relates to the brain and "linguistic" refers to language and how it is used inside the mind and out of the mouth! "Programming" describes the patterns and habits created, learnt and followed. Using NLP techniques and strategies, (which we have adapted to be fun, safe and easy for children and teenagers to use) we give young people the skills to think in new ways so that they feel in control and learn to understand the world from the perspective of others as well as their own. NLP is a cognitive form of therapy, with some parallels to CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy.) Our work is effective in helping children overcome bad habits, behaviour problems, fears and self esteem problems as well as many other challenges. (See the list below for more suggestions about the types of problems we can help with.)
In addition, our practitioners may have qualifications in other specialist therapies, such as EFT/TFT (tapping techniques), Coaching, Counselling and Hypnotherapy for children.
Hypnosis is perfectly safe for children because it is a relaxed state that they already utilise when learning, watching television or doing something creative. Some children will be able to experience a deep, eyes closed relaxing trance. Young children are usually more suited to an awakened trance. This is induced when playing games, colouring or whilst other activities that our Hypnotherapy4Kids practitioners have been trained to use. Our Hypnotherapists will notice the subtle shifts in your child’s levels of awareness so that they can begin to implant suggestions for change or improvement as soon as they see that an awakened trance is achieved.
The first step in helping your child is to contact a practitioner who is local to you. You can call them on the number above or complete the contact box below if you would like the practitioner to contact you. They will conduct a consultation with you, either over the phone or in person. Once they have understood the challenges your child is facing, they will invite you and your child to meet with them. If you decide to go ahead with some therapy or coaching sessions for your child, the therapist will advise you of the best course of action. Your therapist will give you feedback and advise to help you support your child and you will remain in full control of the number of sessions you book and how often. [Read Less]

About Del Walsh:
After years of practicing NLP with many clients, I have come to realise that my ideal target audience is the younger generation. This is the age where we learn our best and worst habits, and as our most suggestible time of our lives, this is where a lot of good or bad influences can happen. The thought of helping the young people to overcome and adapt to the pressures of growing up and teen life is very appealing to me. We learn so much more easily when we are young, and showing children how to learn the right way and to give them the tools to overcome the daily stresses of growing up in life is something I’m very passionate about.
“There is no such thing as non-effective learners, only non-effective communicators.”
Having grown up in a broken family from the age of 3 and having to endure parental conflicts my whole life, I’m fully aware of how equally important and influential life at home is as well as at school.
For me, personally my schools days were tough! Being regularly bullied at school, daily confusion, lack of concentration, mixing with the wrong crowds, exam stress, lack of retention, detachment from the cares of my school work and my future, being on report on an almost permanent basis, truancy, drug and alcohol abuse and criminal behaviour – all this led to my eventual suspension by the age 13.
When I returned to school some weeks later I made a personal decision this was going to be the start of a new me. I was fed up with being in trouble all the time and wondered what it would be like if I did what the teachers asked of me instead of doing the opposite. This decision was the best I ever made at school. My reports were more positive, my school work improved, the teachers responded better towards me (even asking my parents if this was actually me!), and within one year of returning to school from suspension I was made a school prefect. This was a great turn around for me and I found school a lot more enjoyable at this stage.
After I discovered the world of NLP some several years later I realised the positive decisions I made back then at school to change my life was all simple to learn NLP processes that I had done naturally.
The marvel of NLP is that it has combined over many years the positive elements from all different types of human behaviour and has created easy to learn and use processes. These help young people to overcome and eliminate any unwanted or unhelpful habits and character traits.
I’ve been trained in NLP, Hypnosis, Time Line Therapy™ and NLP4Kids and have continue to study these subjects closely. These processes have allowed me to instantly deal with unconscious baggage and has liberated me into a much more confident and driven person. This gave me a real passion to pass the knowledge on and I immediately found myself wanting to help others. Now I have my own company doing just that. I believe we ALL have the ability to improve and develop the key is, ARE WE BEING COACHED CORRECTLY?
