Hello, my name is Heather………..and contrary to the popular belief held by many children and teenagers – grown up’s were once children too!   So here I am, showing up with all my childhood experiences (good and not so good) as well as all my life experience in general – in the belief that had I been taught NLP skills as a child, I would have been so much better equipped and able to effectively deal with some of life’s more challenging experiences.

A Psychology degree provided the opportunity to work on several research projects investigating a serious mental illness and I met some amazing families along the way. I learned a valuable lesson in humility and found that I had a real passion for making a difference.   As a single parent, with both personal and parental experience of ADHD and overcoming many other ‘stretches’ along the way, I brought up my two children with the realisation that the simplest of things can have the profoundest impact on children, parents and family life in general.  Through my work in specialist pharmaceutical sales I learned the true value of language and effective communication.

It has taken a while but finally, I am realising my ultimate desire to work with children/young adults through my chosen pathway of NLP4Kids.

Being a child should be the most wonderful and magical experience enabling growth and development on a journey to adult hood. With childrens’ boundless energy, limitless imagination and creativity combined with a natural curiosity about all things, childhood is the perfect time for the learning of new skills that can be embedded and established as they grow into happy, confident, empowered and successful adults. Nothing more than they deserve.

Life is not perfect or always fair and not always a magical experience and despite best will or intention things do go awry. Good self esteem and confidence underpins who we are and all we do and is majorly influenced by our values and beliefs. So, bullying or being bullied or even peer pressure can impact how children see themselves. Stress, anxiety and depression can greatly impact a child’s behaviour to the point of self harm, eating disorders or fears and phobias or to a lesser degree affect how they cope with exams, homework or even sporting activities.

What never ceases to amaze me is how very quickly NLP tools and techniques can help redress the balance and empower children to turn self destructive behaviours and negativity back into positive and constructive behaviour and actions – learning how to control violent outbursts and other emotional states, to stay calm. Eradicating limiting self talk and enabling goal setting, improving writing skills, concentration and memory, teaching communication skills so that they will be not only better communicators but good listeners as well! Children can learn how to cope with change – sometimes this is related to change of school and sometimes it relates to family issues, such as moving, parental separation or divorce.  Sometimes a child maybe coping with a health complaint or serious illness – NLP and therapy can have a major impact here particularly for pain management.

It is hard not to be excited when you know that all this change work is carried out in a fun, interactive and non-judgemental way, all the while tapping into children’s resourcefulness, creativity, energy and openness – helping them to become inspired and motivated to get results, achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

I offer private 1-2-1 NLP/THERAPY SESSIONS as well as conducting NLP WORKSHOPS for children (also, parents and teachers) within schools or other community setting ( mostly in small groups of 12 or less and within similar age range). My specialist area is ADHD.

I am located in Wootton, Northampton. Please….take up my offer of a FREE (without obligation) consultation (worth £100) where you can talk in confidence and establish that I am the right person to work with your child.

How Does Our Therapy Help Children and Young People?

We use a combination of safe and effective therapies with children and teenagers that help them learn how to control their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Our practitioners are specialists in working with children using a form of therapy called NLP. This stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. "Neuro" relates to the brain and "linguistic" refers to language and how it is used inside the mind and out of the mouth! "Programming" describes the patterns and habits created, learnt and followed. Using NLP techniques and strategies, (which we have adapted to be fun, safe and easy for children and teenagers to use) we give young people the skills to think in new ways so that they feel in control and learn to understand the world from the perspective of others as well as their own. NLP is a cognitive form of therapy, with some parallels to CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy.) Our work is effective in helping children overcome bad habits, behaviour problems, fears and self esteem problems as well as many other challenges. (See the list below for more suggestions about the types of problems we can help with.)

In addition, our practitioners may have qualifications in other specialist therapies, such as EFT/TFT (tapping techniques), Coaching, Counselling and Hypnotherapy for children.

Hypnosis is perfectly safe for children because it is a relaxed state that they already utilise when learning, watching television or doing something creative. Some children will be able to experience a deep, eyes closed relaxing trance. Young children are usually more suited to an awakened trance. This is induced when playing games, colouring or whilst other activities that our Hypnotherapy4Kids practitioners have been trained to use. Our Hypnotherapists will notice the subtle shifts in your child’s levels of awareness so that they can begin to implant suggestions for change or improvement as soon as they see that an awakened trance is achieved.

The first step in helping your child is to contact a practitioner who is local to you. You can call them on the number above or complete the contact box below if you would like the practitioner to contact you. They will conduct a consultation with you, either over the phone or in person. Once they have understood the challenges your child is facing, they will invite you and your child to meet with them. If you decide to go ahead with some therapy or coaching sessions for your child, the therapist will advise you of the best course of action. Your therapist will give you feedback and advise to help you support your child and you will remain in full control of the number of sessions you book and how often. [Read Less]
