How Does Our Therapy Help Children and Young People?
We use a combination of safe and effective therapies with children and teenagers that help them learn how to control their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Our practitioners are specialists in working with children using a form of therapy called NLP. This stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. "Neuro" relates to the brain and "linguistic" refers to language and how it is used inside the mind and out of the mouth! "Programming" describes the patterns and habits created, learnt and followed. Using NLP techniques and strategies, (which we have adapted to be fun, safe and easy for children and teenagers to use) we give young people the skills to think in new ways so that they feel in control and learn to understand the world from the perspective of others as well as their own. NLP is a cognitive form of therapy, with some parallels to CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy.) Our work is effective in helping children overcome bad habits, behaviour problems, fears and self esteem problems as well as many other challenges. (See the list below for more suggestions about the types of problems we can help with.)
In addition, our practitioners may have qualifications in other specialist therapies, such as EFT/TFT (tapping techniques), Coaching, Counselling and Hypnotherapy for children.
Hypnosis is perfectly safe for children because it is a relaxed state that they already utilise when learning, watching television or doing something creative. Some children will be able to experience a deep, eyes closed relaxing trance. Young children are usually more suited to an awakened trance. This is induced when playing games, colouring or whilst other activities that our Hypnotherapy4Kids practitioners have been trained to use. Our Hypnotherapists will notice the subtle shifts in your child’s levels of awareness so that they can begin to implant suggestions for change or improvement as soon as they see that an awakened trance is achieved.
The first step in helping your child is to contact a practitioner who is local to you. You can call them on the number above or complete the contact box below if you would like the practitioner to contact you. They will conduct a consultation with you, either over the phone or in person. Once they have understood the challenges your child is facing, they will invite you and your child to meet with them. If you decide to go ahead with some therapy or coaching sessions for your child, the therapist will advise you of the best course of action. Your therapist will give you feedback and advise to help you support your child and you will remain in full control of the number of sessions you book and how often. [Read Less]

About Corrine Thomas:
- Does your child suffer with anxiety and self-confidence issues?
- Do they miss out at school because they are too scared to speak up in class or put themselves forward for activities?
- How often does your child seem disengaged and withdrawn?
I was a shy and anxious child, who missed out on many opportunities at school because I was too nervous to put myself in front of others for fear of looking silly or making mistakes?
Through learning NLP, I’ve transformed my life.
You and your child can do this too.
By learning and practicing some easy to use techniques from NLP, your child can have the confidence to put their hand up and try out new things in all areas of their lives.
They will have the emotional intelligence and resilience to handle the challenges which life will throw at them in the future.
I wish I had known about NLP when I was a teenager, instead I only found out about it much later. Since studying and using NLP my confidence has grown, I’ve started my own business and I now regularly speak at conferences around the world. Previously I wouldn’t even stand up and tell a story in front of my closest family. Not bad for a shy girl who was too scared to speak up in class.
I now have children of my own and have been able to share what I’ve learnt in NLP with them to help them get through difficult times and also give them strategies for achieving what they want in their lives.
Recently I worked with a young girl who was worried and anxious about going to school because of friendship issues. This is what her mum said after I worked with her.
“Our 9-year-old daughter struggled to manage friendships and lacked confidence at school. We approached Corrine to see if she could arm her with new skills and tools to help her to overcome these problems. A**a enjoyed the sessions very much and Corrine explained the concept at a level that she could understand. In just a few short sessions, our daughter had new ways of dealing with day to day issues and has grown into a confident and outgoing girl who is willing to throw herself at new challenges, knowing that she has Corrine’s tools in her pocket to help her achieve her goals”.
Here are some examples of challenges I’ve helped young people with:
- Passing their driving test
- Anxiety about changing schools and going to college
- Bullying in the playground
- Discovering how they learn best and devising revision plans to fit in with this
- Handling exam stress and anxiety
- Dealing with confidence issues around making friends and joining in with team activities at school
- Making decisions about A levels, college courses and jobs to look for
