Under Pressure: Parents & Professionals

A few days ago the UK government released a white paper detailing their goals to help more primary aged children meet the expected standards in Education. This has lead many to ask the question: How do we improve standards with our increasing the levels of pressure and stress children and educators are already under?

By 2030, ministers want 90% of children leaving primary school to reach the expected standards in reading, writing and maths. In 2019, the figure was 65%. (ref: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-60846684)

Whilst making learning fun is a great way to encourage more children to engage academically, it’s important too to note that there is a major difference between fluid memory (remembering the stuff that’s going in) and crystallised memory (the solid memories that stick with you long term). An important part in the process of forming crystallised memory comes from a rather unexpected activity – can you guess what it is?
