What Workshops Do You Offer for Parents?
We offer a range of parenting workshops that are sometime based around common day-to-day parenting challenges or challenges that are related to specific subjects that parents may be facing. For example:
- Understanding your teenage child parenting workshop
- Helping anxious children – a guide for parents
- Supporting depressed children parenting workshop
- Techniques for parents of children with ODD
NLP4Parents involves learning some of the basic techniques of NLP that can really influence the way you and your child relate to one another. We can’t promise that they’ll love doing their homework as a result of you attending the course, but you will learn some great ways to create incentives for them to get them homework done. This isn’t your average parenting course where we talk about reward systems and star charts (although they have their uses). With NLP4Parents you will learn new language patterns and ways to approach options with your child that will have them responding with less fuss whilst still feeling empowered. Using your new skills you will also be able to better support your child in overcoming their own challenges and improve relationships between siblings.
When Do the Workshops Take Place?
The workshops take place in the evenings or at the weekends.
The workshops will be a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 6 hours.
Where Do You Run the Workshops?
Typically the workshops take place in local venues such as community halls or in school halls.
Our workshops are conducted by a licenced NLP4Kids practitioner who has taken an additional level of training in NLP4Parents.
What Are the Skills/Experience of The Practitioner?
NLP4Kids practitioner have completed an entry level exam in NLP prior to attending their live NLP4Kids training. The live training is made up of 3 levels and our practitioners will have attended at least two of the 3 levels in order to run workshops with parents.
In addition, our practitioners will be DBS (police checked), have paediatric first aid and safeguarding training. They have public liability insurance and have completed a health questionnaire, an application process, interview and provided two references before we licence them to provide NLP4Parents workshops.
Our practitioners are not necessarily parents themselves, though they will have all had experience in being parented!
Will My Parenting Skills be Judged?
Being a parent is by far one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs on the planet! Unfortunately with this particular job there is no training manual, limited feedback on your performance, and no right or wrong way of doing things. It can also be difficult to find support and many parents experience the feeling of not doing a good enough job if they have to ask for advice from a professional.
Rest assured that we see our role as one to help build on the great skills you already have. Not all of the advice will be the right fit for you and if you chose not to use what we have to offer we won’t judge you for it!
There is no right way of being a parent, but there are steps that you can take if your family relationships are not working out as well as they could be and that’s where we can help.
What Changes Can I Expect To Make To My Child After Attending?
It’s important to recognise that NLP4Parents is not about changing your child or what your child does, but about changing your responses and communication with your child so that you begin to nurture more desired responses from them.
Common problems that parents experience with their children include:
- Arguing
- Stale mate (not talking to each other)
- Stone walling (saying bad things about each other)
During the workshops we focus on creating quality relationships in families so that these problems can be quickly overcome. Not just so that harmony is maintained at home, but so that respect and balance in those relationships will help you to have a greater positive influence on your child. You will also learn techniques that will enable you to help your child with their own challenges.
How Many Workshops Should I Attend?
Where a series of workshops are available, we recommend you attend all that are relevant to the learning you wish to achieve. Think about the skills you will need in the future, not just the ones you want right now.
Should Both Parents Attend the workshop?
Where possible both parents should attend the workshops to ensure that you are both taking the same approach as you move forward.
I Am Not a Parent But Fulfil a Parenting Role – Can I Attend?
Absolutely.
What Age Children Do Your Parenting Workshops Address?
Our parenting workshops start for parents of very young children (toddlers) right up into the tricky teenage years.
How Many Delegates Will Attend the Workshop?
Our live workshops may have up to 60 delegates and online webinar trainings can have considerably more.
