Children and Teenagers: How To Take Responsibility for Your Emotions


Changing how you feel and think, when you do not have the right strategies is a tricky business. It’s easy to start believing that you are not in control of those aspects of who you are, or to think that you are stuck that way because of your life’s circumstances.

But this is not the case. Whilst you may be stuck with the parents you have, the school you go to, you can still take control of your thoughts and feelings.

The simple act of deciding what you can do and will do to take responsibility for how you think and feel is the first step to feeling more empowered and less oppressed by your circumstances. When you ask yourself “What can I do?” In a curious and positive tone, your brain is far more helpful than when you ask “Why does it have to be this way?”
