Day Two of Alfie’s Work Experience
Alfie (who is 10 years old) has joined the NLP4Kids office for a second day of work experience. He was banned from bringing his iPod and has been given real responsibilities within the organisation.
He has received the same feedback as any other member of staff whether his work was up to standard or not – so it has been a high pressured couple of days for him, it certainly hasn’t been easy for him!
That said it’s also been a really positive experience for both of us. Alfie is my cousin and whilst we see each other quite regularly, we’ve never spent this much time together! So we’ve both learned more about each other in the last two days.
Here is his blog from today:
This is my second day of working for People Building. I think today has been better than yesterday because I have got into the habit of working. Here is what I did today:
First, I took the cardboard out back on the titanic rubbish heap. I then picked up all the old business cards that had spilled out of a box last night.
Then I washed up the messy cups.
I shredded some paper, and after that, I tided up Gemma’s tool-box.
{This was the morning}
The office is still a bit messy but not as much. The easiest job today is actually the wallets. I got quite a lot better at doing them. I filed them in to alphabetical order.
I had lots of fun today and I hopefully will be here next week. I hope you enjoy reading my blogs and I look forward to writing more next week.
Well done, Alfie, you have inspired my 5 year old son to do lots of jobs in the house today and i think he enjoyed them as much as you. Job satisfaction and having a purpose, huh? I hope to read some more from you soon. Kx
