How to Tackle Bullying

Unfortunately, all schools have some form of bullying incidents occuring within their school. Bullying can occur verbally, physically or emotionally. The Department of education once stated that at any one given time at least 20% of the school population can be affected by bullying. This is quite high and it does not include cyber-bullying which has now become a huge issue.

NLP4Kids have created a programme for pupils to help them effectively deal with bullying and the perception of bullying. NLP4Kids will do this by helping children to increase resilience and their confidence. NLP4Kids will also be wanting to work with the perpetrators to develop more emotional intelligence.

Schools have successfully tackled incidents of bullying but some pupils are more sensitive to the comments and actions of others which causes them to feel as if they are being bullied, even though it may not appear to be bullying in a typical sense. This in turn highlights them as a soft target and makes matters worse because of how they respond.

In our new programme, we have develop ‘The Resilience Group’. The Resilience Group is made up of a group of pupils who will be working together and will be learning how to support each other. They will collectively overcome their challenges and find commonality with each other. They will have empathy and sympathy for each others experiences. The NLP4Kids Practitioner will help the pupils develop their confidence, reduce feelings of anxiety (allowing them to focus better), and feel stronger emotionally within themselves. As their confidence improves their ability to connect with others will increase. They will become more able to make friends, socialise and explore the wider world.

For the individuals who are attending sessions to develop respect, they will form better ways of communicating how they feel. They will have better perspective of how their words can influence the thoughts and feelings of others and will be more mindful of the impact that their behaviour and communication has. Emotionally, they will be more balanced and others will find it easier to develop positive, meaningful relationships with them.

In working with children, NLP4Kids aim to reduce the feeling of anger and irritation and increase in tolerance so that the children can develop a more peaceful state of mind and a better attitude. The end result will be a long term positive ramifications to their mental well-being and social health.
