If You’re Waiting to Feel Ready, You’ll Never Start

Most people will never build the children’s business they dream of. Not because they lack the talent, the passion, or the financial means… but because they convince themselves they’re “just not ready yet.”

I’ve spoken to people who have been on our database for years – in some cases, decades – always saying the same thing: “I really, really want to do this… but I’m still not ready.”

Why Waiting Feels Safer (But Isn’t)

It’s easy to believe your job is the safest option. That staying where you are protects your finances, your security, and even your confidence. But the truth? In today’s world, especially with AI advancing at lightning speed, no job is as secure as you think. If you work for any organisation, there’s a good chance they’re already looking for ways to trim costs and replace roles – maybe even yours.

You might take comfort in the familiarity of your job, but be careful… drudgery can feel like security if you’ve been there long enough. And one day, you could wake up to find that the best years of your working life are behind you, and you’ve never done the thing that mattered most to you.

Sometimes “security” is just a cage you’ve decorated to look like home.

The Truth About Risk

We need to talk about the word “risk.” People hear it and instantly think of danger, failure, or loss. But here’s the thing – you take risks every single day without even noticing. Every time you drive, you trust the car coming towards you will stay on its side of the road. There’s no guarantee it will… yet you trust, and you act.

The challenge with joining a coaching franchise isn’t that people don’t trust us. It’s that the process forces them to see how little they trust themselves. And that’s the real work – building your self-esteem so you know you can make it work.

You are far more capable of handling risk than you’ve been led to believe.

Micro-Stepping Your Way In

Here’s a secret: you don’t have to leap off a cliff to make this work. You can build your children’s business one step at a time. When I ran the very first NLP4Kids training, I was still working as a nanny. I took holiday time to deliver the training, and I was already seeing clients during the day once the children were at school.

For two years, I lived in two worlds – employed as a nanny, working as a therapist, and building what would become our coaching franchise. That’s proof you don’t need to choose between security and purpose immediately. You can grow into it while you’re still earning.

If you wait until you feel ready, you may never start. If you start before you feel ready, you’ll grow into the person who can handle it.

The Only Regret You’ll Have

When you look back in 10, 20, or even 30 years, will you be proud you stayed in a job you didn’t love because it felt safe? Or will you wish you had spent more of your life making a difference?

Your mental wellbeing, your sense of purpose, and your freedom won’t come from avoiding challenges – they come from creating something that matters to you. And in my experience, building a children’s business within a coaching franchise is one of the most rewarding, life-changing ways to do that.
