Anger is filled with energy but there might be something else in there too. Whilst anger is considered to be a primary emotion, which results in secondary emotions such as sadness or guilt, there might be something else going on too. Sometimes children and young people use anger to conceal an emotion that makes them feel vulnerable or out of control. Anger is good in these instances because it causes an elevation in power and often makes others listen and take notice. It can be worthwhile exploring what the real primary emotion is because perhaps the anger is concealing something else.
