Why Your Postcode Doesn’t Predict Your Success – This Practitioner Proved It
You’ll want to know this before you tell yourself it’s not possible.
You’ll want to hear this story before you write off your dreams of helping children and making a living doing it.
Because too many people believe that postcode equals profit. That where you live dictates how successful your business can be. That in order to thrive, you need wealthy neighbours, leafy school gates, and premium coffee shops on every corner. But that belief? It’s just not true.
We’re Not Just a Therapy Franchise – We’re a Movement
At NLP4Kids, we don’t just teach people how to work with children’s mental health. We build changemakers. Our coaching franchise has never been about cookie-cutter therapy. It’s a movement of people who want to disrupt the system – to make therapeutic strategies more accessible, more practical, and more human.
Over the years, I’ve had dozens of prospective licensees sit in interviews and say things like:
“I just don’t live in the right area.”
“There’s not enough money where I live for families to afford this.”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to earn what some of the others do.”
And, yes, I used to wonder about that too. But what I’ve seen – and what you’re about to discover – proves otherwise.
Mental Health Doesn’t Care About Wealth
Let me tell you about two very different practitioners we’ve had in the NLP4Kids family.
One of them lived in Knightsbridge. Yes, that Knightsbridge – literally a few doors down from Harrods. Surely that would make her a top earner, right? Affluent families, private schools, well-connected parents…
But here’s the thing: children in wealthier families often have different, but equally serious issues. Intense academic pressure. Emotional detachment. A sense of being valued only for performance, not personhood. And despite her postcode, that practitioner didn’t become our top performer.
It turns out success doesn’t live in a postcode – it lives in your mindset, your methods, and your mission.
The Practitioner Who Proved Everyone Wrong
Then came Jo Atkinson. A practitioner in Newcastle. When she joined, I’ll admit I had doubts. I thought, “We’re going to struggle here.” Not because of Jo – but because of my own outdated assumptions.
Fast forward to today: Jo is our highest-earning practitioner. Month in, month out, she outperforms everyone. And it’s not because she stumbled into a goldmine. It’s because she cracked the code.
Jo delivers high-quality workshops, books clients from further afield via Zoom, and has built a reputation so strong that people would travel to see her if they had to. She didn’t wait for ideal circumstances – she created them.
She’s the reason I can confidently say that the success of our coaching franchise has nothing to do with affluence, and everything to do with action.
No matter where you live, if you become known as the best at helping with a specific problem, the world will find you.
It’s Not About Location – It’s About Leadership
If you live in a lower-income area, yes – you might need to price your sessions differently, or offer more group-based work like after-school clubs or term-time programmes. But that doesn’t limit your success. It expands your reach.
And if you do live in an affluent area? That’s not a free pass. You still need to show up, earn trust, build relationships, and offer real value.
Whether you’re a parent looking to work with one of our trained practitioners, or someone dreaming of joining our coaching franchise and making a career out of transforming young lives, remember this: you are not limited by your location.
You are only limited by what you believe about it.
Download our franchise pack. Share this with someone who needs it. Or just reach out and start the conversation.
Because we’re not just a therapy franchise – we’re a movement. And movements start wherever someone decides they’ve had enough of waiting.
