Hi! I am Georgia Turner, an NLP4Kids practitioner specialising in sleep issues and childhood grief as well as other challenges and traumas relating to children’s mental health. I’m a mother to two children and a primary teacher, with a considerable amount of experience of working with children and young people, within the primary and secondary age groups and children with SEN.

A passion of mine is sport. I enjoy playing and have been involved in teaching sport and training teachers to teach PE for several years.

What is NLP?

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) teaches children skills, strategies and techniques to impact on their thinking, feelings and emotions.

What does a session look like?

NLP is a talking therapy but drawing and games may also be used where appropriate so that the therapy sessions are effective but also appropriate to the child’s age, to have the maximum impact.

Separation / Divorce
My specialist area is separation and divorce. Having lived through my own parents divorcing as a child, it has given me a perspective of how that can feel and affect you. It was a difficult and painful time and I was looked upon as a resilient child, who would be able to cope eventually! This is like flipping a coin and hoping it lands on ‘heads’!  Divorce is never a nice situation for anyone involved. Taking early action in addressing these feelings, thoughts and emotions can help children to look to the future positively and to have enjoyment from life again. Giving children control over their thoughts and feelings.

Sleep Issues

I also experienced issues with my children and sleeping (or not sleeping as the case was!) This led me into doing lots of research into sleep problems and became an area of interest to me. I enjoy using NLP to help children with techniques to get to sleep and to have a positive sleep experience.

Taking Action!

One of my favourite things about NLP is how effective it is in such a short space of time! The phrase “It’s just a phase,” is used too often with children.  Unfortunately, when issues such as those listed above are left untreated, they can snowball into a bigger issue and can even be carried into adult lives, affecting all their choices and behaviours!  You can help to equip your child with the strategies and techniques that they need, allowing them to take control of their feelings and emotions by taking action now!

How Does Our Therapy Help Children and Young People?

We use a combination of safe and effective therapies with children and teenagers that help them learn how to control their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Our practitioners are specialists in working with children using a form of therapy called NLP. This stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. "Neuro" relates to the brain and "linguistic" refers to language and how it is used inside the mind and out of the mouth! "Programming" describes the patterns and habits created, learnt and followed. Using NLP techniques and strategies, (which we have adapted to be fun, safe and easy for children and teenagers to use) we give young people the skills to think in new ways so that they feel in control and learn to understand the world from the perspective of others as well as their own. NLP is a cognitive form of therapy, with some parallels to CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy.) Our work is effective in helping children overcome bad habits, behaviour problems, fears and self esteem problems as well as many other challenges. (See the list below for more suggestions about the types of problems we can help with.)

In addition, our practitioners may have qualifications in other specialist therapies, such as EFT/TFT (tapping techniques), Coaching, Counselling and Hypnotherapy for children.

Hypnosis is perfectly safe for children because it is a relaxed state that they already utilise when learning, watching television or doing something creative. Some children will be able to experience a deep, eyes closed relaxing trance. Young children are usually more suited to an awakened trance. This is induced when playing games, colouring or whilst other activities that our Hypnotherapy4Kids practitioners have been trained to use. Our Hypnotherapists will notice the subtle shifts in your childs levels of awareness so that they can begin to implant suggestions for change or improvement as soon as they see that an awakened trance is achieved.

The first step in helping your child is to contact a practitioner who is local to you. You can call them on the number above or complete the contact box below if you would like the practitioner to contact you. They will conduct a consultation with you, either over the phone or in person. Once they have understood the challenges your child is facing, they will invite you and your child to meet with them. If you decide to go ahead with some therapy or coaching sessions for your child, the therapist will advise you of the best course of action. Your therapist will give you feedback and advise to help you support your child and you will remain in full control of the number of sessions you book and how often. [Read Less]

  1. As a parent, I found Georgia remained very professional throughout my daughter’s therapy. She gave me enough information that I was kept in the loop. She made my daughter feel comfortable and I felt confident that she would help my daughter resolve her issues.

  2. I enjoyed working with and resolving my issues with Georgia. She made me feel relaxed and I felt comfortable opening up to her. I have learnt skills that I can use now and at other times. Should I need more help in the future I would definitely return to Georgia.

  4. We came to Georgia for help when our daughter’s worrying and anxiety began to take over. It was mostly at bedtimes but most conversations were around what she was worrying about. After the first session we began to see a change and were given some great strategies that she took to. She began to become an enjoyable positive thing again. We haven’t looked back and I feel that we have our happy, confident little girl back again.

  5. Our Son, Oliver is 11 years old, Oliver has been diagnosed with ASD & ADHD, Oliver has lots of irrational fears and becomes extremely anxious when out of routine.

Oliver has started Secondary School today, 1st of September and following 2 transition days it was very clear that his emotions and anxieties were extremely high.

Georgia has worked with Oliver for 2 sessions to talk about his anxieties about starting a new school and given him some strategies for him to apply for when he is feeling anxious.

The school drop of this morning was a breeze, compared to the transition days, there were no tears and off he went, confidently.

I would highly recommend Georgia, we will be using her again for Oliver.
